Switchable PDLC Smart Film
Smart film, also known as switchable film or privacy film, is a technologically advanced material that can change its optical properties in response to an external stimulus. The most common type of smart film is PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) film, and its working principle involves the use of liquid crystals that align when electrified and allow visibility. Here's a breakdown of how smart film works:
- PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) film is an adhesive glass film composed of multiple layers
- Smart PDLC film is electrically switchable from an opaque to clear state
- Electrified crystals line up allowing transparency. When not electrified the crystals randomize and create a frosted look
- Film is meticulously installed to look invisible to the eye when in a clear state
